Babies Crying, Dog Barking, Toilet Overflowing?

Late on a work project, computer just crashed. Everything seem to be jumping on you at one time to steal your joy, to steal your ability to cherish every moment with the ones you love? Guess what…

Maybe I’ve been listening to too much country music over the weekend, but I’ve got a good reason to be diving back into my country roots. We splurged on tickets to the Garth Brooks concert next month to celebrate my wife’s 30^th birthday and I want to be prepared to sing along. I figured my preparation was a good enough reason to divert Pandora from my usual Christian contemporary fare.

Much to my surprise, there are some great messages in country music! Especially now that you can see the lyrics in Pandora!

During the week my time with the kids is mainly at dinner and putting them to bed. They are tired and they generally do not want to go bed. So, I’m not seeing them at the “top of their game” to say the least. Far too often, I’m in a hurry to get the kids to sleep so I can finish up some work before heading to bed.

Whenever my wife can see me losing my joy trying to get the kids to bed she always sings me a line or two of “You’re Gonna Miss This” by Trace Adkins. When this song came on while I was working the other day I stopped and looked at the lyrics. They’re good and I wanted to share them with you.

Next time life has you tied up in knots and missing the joy in every moment, just do like I do and sing a few bars of this song…
