Our Deepest Fear

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

– 2 Timothy 1:7

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking

so that other people will not feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others.

—-from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson

The longer I live the more I begin to understand that most bad decisions and poor behavior is not driven by evil intent or laziness, but by fear. Fear of loss, fear of ridicule, whatever fear it may be, it drives us to not do the things we should and to do the things we should not.

What fears are holding you back from the passion that God has planted inside you? Fear is not the plan that God has for you. Never play small. Go BIG!
