Ali on Branding, The Values – Profit Connection, 14 Low Carb Breakfasts, Hack Your Memories for Success
I hope you’re having a great week.
As a Christian business leader you want to accelerate your growth, profit, and witness in the marketplace (and build a better life!). Our goal is to bring you the best tips, tools, and techniques to do just that!
Let’s get started!
Business
Learning Branding from “the Greatest”– Muhammad Ali was and still is one of the most recognized and iconic figures in sports. He created an incredible brand that caught your attention and never let go. To this day I still cannot resist watching video clips of the man. Ali passed away on June 3rd. Here are 4 great lessons from the champ we can all use in our business branding:
- Practice – Two ways to look at this. Practice is required to be great at what you do. Average brands are not noticed. You also must “practice” knowing what your brand stands for. Vision leaks – quickly. Make sure everyone on your team knows what you stand for.
- Belief – If you know what you stand for and know you can do it well, you and your team’s belief will grow. When everyone on your team believes that you can back up what your branding says, they will be that more confident selling the brand in public. The more “proud” you are of your brand and how you help your clients, the “louder” you will be.
- Goals – Where you are taking your organization is a huge part of your brand. Apple is about creating technology that makes a “dent” in the universe. They are still working towards that goal and that keeps us waiting to see what they come up with next.
- Tenacity – There will always be setbacks in business and in life. Knowing what you stand and for and where you are going will give you the courage (and energy) to keep getting back up.

The Values-Culture-Brand-Profit Connection – Long title, but simple concept. Your Core Values (how the people in your organization act) creates your brand. Your brand is experienced every time someone interacts with one of your people. Don’t believe that your brand is what your marketing firm tells people it is. We live in an age of transparency. Your brand is the experience that customers have with your people, your product and your service.
That experience differentiates you from your competition. Your customers will be willing to pay more for that experience if it is great. That drives your profit. Click here to learn more about establishing the “true” core values of your organization.
Health
14 Low Carb Breakfasts – Whenever I talk with someone about getting healthier and improving their diet we always discuss ways to get junk carbs out of our diets. Breakfast is the meal where people struggle to find healthy options.
This article has 14 healthy, low carb breakfast options that look great! Several I had never heard of before…
One that is not on the list and that is my wife’s go to is a Chocolate Protein Shake by Juice Plus. She blends it with almond milk, peanut butter and sometimes, fruit. It is quick, easy and healthy. I am generally not a buyer of products that are sold through multi-level marketing channels, but I’ve bought and purchased lots of different protein shakes over the years and the ingredients on this one are top notch. I am also quite cheap and this one is about 2x what I pay for mine at Amazon. But, with Jill expecting we’ve found these to be worth it! It is still way cheaper than any drive through options.
The link above goes to the Juice Plus site of Lindsey Beals, who we buy ours from. Just look for Juice Plus+ Complete and you’ll see what Jill uses. Hope you like it!
Life, Fun, Whatever!
Hack Your Memories to Become Unstoppable?
Maybe not completely unstoppable, but Geoffrey James makes a great point in this article. Great individuals generally have “systems” that make them great. Steve Jobs used mindfulness meditation. I’ve written before how just a few deep breaths (a form of meditation) can change your perspective.
Many leaders have a specific morning routine. Mine consists of exercise, prayer and planning.
Another trick is how you interpret your memories. Your memory does not work like a video recording. It is your interpretation of an event. How you frame the event determines if it is a happy or sad memory. Your memories make your personal story and how you interpret your life. They make you either a glass is “half-full” or “half-empty” kind of person.
For example, let’s say you missed out on a business opportunity years ago that would have made you fantastically rich. You can interpret that memory two ways. Half-empty tells you how your life would be so much better “if only” you had made the right decision.
A “half-full” frame might start with the idea that you are exactly where God wants you to be for His purposes – regardless of past good or bad decisions.
Give it a try. When you tell your story to yourself – by reviewing your memories – start with a better mental framework. Remember, all things happen for the good… (Romans 8:28).
You’ll start to see your memories in a much brighter light!
