Planes are off course 99% of the time they are in the air, but most of the time I get on one the pilot does an amazing job of predicting the exact time of our landing! How in the world do they do that?? They correct course, a lot. In fact, thanks to improved navigational systems they are constantly correcting their course. What is the benefit of constant course correction? They never get too far off course, which saves a ton of fuel. Now compare how a plane’s navigational system constantly corrects course to how you manage your business. Do you have a definitive destination? Do you know when you should arrive? Huge development projects are built this way. By starting with the end in mind, great project managers can then plan every step of the project. When one step takes too long or costs too much, they work diligently to “correct course” so the project is delivered on time and on-budget. As business leaders, we spend way too much time focused on the lagging indicators of our financial statements. Don’t get me wrong, the financials are the final scoreboard for our businesses. They are very important! But what is more important are the leading indicators that “lead” to the results we want to achieve in the financial statements. What are the daily, weekly and monthly inputs that will lead your organization to your financial goals? The more often you track and review your leading indicators, the less fuel you will waste! |

Some are saying the treatment will replace chemotherapy within five years and it has way fewer side effects. All great news.
