Fun at Work

It’s proven. Fun workplaces make more money. That’s not a direct correlation. They don’t get paid to have fun, but great people stay at fun workplaces. Great people (having fun) make customers very happy. Happy customers buy more and come back more often. Happy customers love you and your brand…. and that makes you more money, and a better life.

We do spend most of our waking hours at work and even more thinking about work. Here are some ideas on how to bring some fun into your workplace!

Pranks that won’t get you fired!

  1. Cubicle / Office Makeover – Everyone should have the right to express their inner princess or Justin Bieber – it might just take a little push. Why not help your coworker truly express themselves with a little cubicle makeover. Most of the materials you need are available at the local dollar store. Go make that cube Bieber-ific!
  2. Office Supply Dessert – Brought to you by the great people at The Office, this one takes a bit of patience. But, what better way to serve up your buddy’s favorite red swing line stapler! Check out this wikihow article for the specifics.
  3. Office Track Meet – Is it really a race if people didn’t sign up for it? I think so. Simply send out an email saying there are birthday cake leftovers in the kitchen and hit start on the timer. You’ll hear the heard forming in the distance. Just be careful about giving out ribbons to the first to arrive – sometimes your coworkers might be a little testy when they realize there was never any cake.
  4. Toilet Humor – This works particularly well for offices located near a restroom. Hide this remote control fart machine above an acoustical ceiling or under a desk. Can also be a fun toy when you have guests over to your home. Question – if I use this for work, is it tax deductible? Love to have that conversation with the IRS agent, “Honestly – it was for culture building!” Check out this great device and read some hilarious reviews at Amazon.

I hope those ideas got you thinking of something fun you can do at your office this week! Lighten up. Take your work seriously, but never yourself. You never know, it might make your company more profitable.
